One evening 66 safes are emptied in a small bank in Brussels. The safes are owned by Belgian politicians and other public figures. The officials decide to not tell the public and so to stifle the whole affair. When inspector Paul Gerardi starts to investigate the mysterious robbery, he gets thrown off the case. Still he is determined to find out what happened.
Excited after reading this short introduction to “Salamander”, a famous Flemish crime series? Then go to the free screening of the first two episodes on Thursday 13th February at 20:30 at Pangaea!
The series “Salamander” is internationally praised as “a gripping, edge-of-the-seat thriller” (BBC 4). BBC 4, RTBF and the American streaming giant Netflix even bought its rights. And that’s not all, the American broadcaster ABC is making a remake of this TV series.
Three Cultural Studies students will host the screening for DETECt, which is an EU project that investigates the narratives of European crime fiction. You’ll get to see two episodes of the series with English subtitles, so don’t worry about the fact that the series is in Dutch.
After the screening there will be a questionnaire and a short discussion. There will be drinks and snacks to make it all nice and cosy!
Important to note: Since this project serves academic purposes, the organisation is specifically looking for Polish, Italian, British and Chinese participants!
